Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about how Scaile works, billing, and security.

What is Scaile?

Scaile lets you launch pre-configured GPU environments in seconds. Pick a template — like Jupyter GPU, Ollama, vLLM, or ComfyUI — and we provision the infrastructure so you can start working immediately.

Do you store or have access to my API keys?

No. Your API keys (Anthropic, OpenAI, etc.) are injected directly into your container as environment variables at launch time. We do not store or log your API keys. Once your instance is destroyed, the keys are gone.

Can you see what's running inside my instance?

Your instance is an isolated container. We do not access your files or monitor what you run. We only see metadata needed for billing: status, uptime, and resource type.

How does billing work?

All templates are billed per-minute starting when a GPU is reserved for your instance — not when the environment is fully ready. Pricing shown on launch pages reflects current rates and may fluctuate based on provider pricing and GPU availability. The rate is locked in when your instance is provisioned and stays fixed for that session. You pre-load credits and usage is deducted automatically. Stop or destroy your instance any time to stop charges.

Can I get a refund for unused credits?

All credit purchases are final and non-refundable. Credits remain in your account until used and do not expire. If you experience a platform issue that caused unintended charges, contact [email protected] and we'll review your case.

What happens to my work when I stop an instance?

Stopping an instance pauses GPU billing but storage charges continue at a reduced rate. You can resume anytime as long as you have credits. If your balance runs out, the stopped instance will be destroyed. Destroying an instance immediately and permanently deletes all data — make sure to download anything you want to keep first.

What GPU options are available?

We offer GPUs including RTX 3090, RTX 4090, A100 80GB, and H100 SXM through our provider network. Availability and pricing depend on real-time supply and are not guaranteed until your instance is successfully provisioned. If a GPU is unavailable at launch time, you can try again or select a different configuration — no credits are charged for failed launches.

Do I need my own GPU?

No. We provision remote GPUs from cloud providers. All you need is a browser.

What if a template uses both GPU and LLM API calls?

Some templates like OpenClaw use GPU compute (billed by Scaile) and LLM API calls (billed by your provider like Anthropic or OpenAI). You'll see a cost warning on the launch page for these templates. Monitor your API provider usage separately.

Can I use my own datasets?

Yes. Datasets on the launch page are optional pre-loaded options to get you started quickly. You can skip them and upload or download your own data once JupyterLab is open.

How long does it take to launch an instance?

Launch times depend on GPU availability and container startup. Billing begins as soon as a GPU is reserved for your instance, which happens at launch. If provisioning fails entirely, no credits are deducted.

What happens if I run out of credits?

You'll receive a low-balance warning so you can add credits before any interruption. When your balance reaches zero, running instances are automatically stopped. In rare cases, instances may be interrupted due to infrastructure issues beyond our control.
